"Music Makers for Life"

To try to serve our community as best we can, we offer a limited number of reduced-rate scholarships for music lessons, in co-operation with the Music Link Foundation's national program.  Please contact us for more information.

What We Do

Teachers who volunteer to be MusicLink teachers agree to reduce their normal rate by at least half to give children the opportunity to take lessons they could not otherwise afford. The MusicLink Foundation does not reimburse teachers for this tuition donation, but supports teachers and students in a variety of other ways. All MusicLink teachers are required to pass a background check.

Because of the partnerships that MusicLink shares with businesses, MusicLink teachers are able to take advantage of discounts on music, materials, teaching aids, electronics, software, etc. for their MusicLink students. The MusicLink Foundation offers MusicLink students $250 Summer Music Camp Scholarships, reimburses MusicLink teachers up to $150 per year for out-of-pocket expenses incurred on behalf of their MusicLink students, and assists MusicLink students with getting practice instruments.

It is a simple process to become a MusicLink teacher.

Nominating a student to MusicLink is easy! Simply fill out the electronic MusicLink Nomination Form provided below and submit it online, or print out the PDF version and mail to MusicLink Foundation, 1043 N. McKinley Rd., Arlington, VA 22205. MusicLink will contact the nominator to confirm receipt. MusicLink students:

  • range from preschool age to seniors in high school
  • show potential in music and interest in music lessons
  • have financial need as shown by one of the following:
    • family is eligible for the free or reduced lunch program
    • family income is less than $35,000 for a family of four
    • other financial circumstances show indication of need

Teachers who nominate students must notify the students and parents/guardians of the nomination. Be sure to tell them that a MusicLink representative will be contacting them soon.
